NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 1 IN THE BOOKS

Day 1 of the NCBBA Women’s National Championship Tournament is officially in the books. Click HERE to see the updated bracket after the first 4 games.

 

 

#1 SEED ADVANCES

The #1 overall seed, Ohio State, advances on to the national semi-finals after beating #8 Grand Valley State 54-44. Ohio State will play SIUe at 7:30 on Saturday, April 22nd.

 

 

DEFENDING CHAMPS MOVE ON

Defending National Champions, #2 Boston College move passed #7 Villanova. Boston College will take on #3 Nevada in the final 4 at 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 22nd.

 

 

NEVADA ADVANCES!

#3 Nevada continues their undefeated season with a win over UMass by the score of 69-46. Nevada moves on to the final 4 and will play the winner of the 5:00 game between #2 Boston College and #7 Villanova.

 

 

SIUE MOVES ON!

#5 SIUe with an upset over the #4 seed Penn State by a score of 60-54. SIUe moves on to the final 4 and will play the winner of the 7:30pm game between #1 Ohio State and #8 Grand Valley State happening Friday 4/21.

 

 

NCBBA-W NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME LIVE STREAM

Tytan Athletics NCBBA-W WEEK 23 TOP 15

Ohio State takes over as #1 after a strong showing at the Regional Tournament. Boston College is close behind at #2 and Penn State falls in at #3. Nevada climbs to #4 after receiving a 1st place vote and Penn comes in #5 after an upset win in their Regional Tournament.

Washington – St. Louis joins the top 15 after playing SIUe tight over the weekend and two other new teams follow.

7 TICKETS PUNCHED; 1 AT-LARGE BID TO GO

Penn State University, Boston College, Ohio State University, University of Pennsylvania, Coastal Carolina University, University of Southern Illinois – Edwardsville, and University of Nevada – Reno are the 7 automatic qualifiers to the NCBBA-W National Championship Tournament after winning their respective regional.

#1 seeded Penn State defeated #3 SUNY Cortland 49-36 to claim the North Atlantic Regional Championship. #1 seeded Boston College continues a dominant season by defeating #2 seeded UMass 62-50 to win the New England Regional Championship. #1 seeded Ohio State handled #2 Grand Valley State in a 57-46 victory to claim the Great Lakes Regional Championship. #2 Penn pulls off the upset beating #1 Villanova in a 3 game series to claim the Mid-Atlantic title. #2 Coastal Carolina beat #1 Kennesaw State 45-40 in a decisive game 3 to earn the South Atlantic Regional Championship. #1 SIUe knocks off the #2 Washington – St. Louis in a 59-53 win to claim the Mid America Regional Champion. And #1 Nevada – Reno takes 2 forfeit wins against #2 Stanford to earn a Pacific Regional Champion in their first season.

The final spot will be selected via At-Large Bids.  That selections will be made later this evening, so be sure to look out!

Defending champs, Boston College, remain #1 for the 2nd straight poll! Nevada climbs to #6 after a dominant regular season. No new teams join the top 15 as we head into the last weekend of the regular season.
